NET stands for National Evangelization Teams. We are Catholic Missionaries who share Jesus' gospel message with young people in a team format. NET Ministries of Canada challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church. NET Canada recruits and trains teams to evangelize to over 28,000 youth every year in churches, and schools.
NET's mission, to challenge young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church, is accomplished by:
- Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ through a personal witness of faith
- Inviting young people to live for Christ
- Forming young people in Christian character through the study and practice of our faith
- Equipping young adults and youth workers with the ministry skills needed for evangelization
The History of NET
NET Ministries began in 1981 when an "experimental" travelling retreat team was sent out from the Catholic Youth Centre in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. After a favourable response, demand for the ministry increased and additional teams were assembled to meet these growing needs.
In Canada
Between 1985–1994, NET teams from the USA periodically travelled into Canadian dioceses to minister. In 1994, NET Ministries of Canada was established. Since that time NET has grown from having one team in 1994, to having six teams.
Les équipes NET
NET Ministries of Canada in the fall of 2006 introduced "Les equipes NET". This is an initiative to minister in the French youth culture. With the success of the Les equipes NET's mission from October to December 2007, intentions are to eventually have a full pastoral year of ministry. |
