Jacqueline Cole, Kitchener, ON

Allow me to introduce myself!

My name is Jackie Cole and I am 21 years old from Kitchener Ontario. I am in my fourth and final year at Wilfrid Laurier University studying Social & Environmental Justice, with a post-graduate certificate in Community & Social Service Management from Conestoga College. In my spare time, I am either working out, talking with friends, learning something artsy, or attempting to read theology. I absolutely love being outside and trying pretty much anything new!

While attending a Steubenville Toronto Retreat in the year 2017, I came across a promotion for NET Canada; and I have to admit, I was curious. Now, I didn’t necessarily do anything with this information right away, but the prospect of being a missionary continued to brew until it was stuck on my heart. And I mean STUCK. This desire to grow in my faith with like-minded young people, and to share the Good News that I know to be true with others is something that I have not been able to shake. (Praise God)! Young people, if not now more than ever, need to know God’s love for them. We’ve seen the news and heard the statistics. It’s a scary world out there to say the least. NET extends the invitation to youth to embrace their faith and cultivate a personal relationship with Christ. As someone interested in working with community, especially youth, the mission of NET aligns well with the desires of my heart.

This year, I am blessed to be serving in Whitehorse, Yukon! I am most excited to learn from the people we meet along the way, be involved with the local schools, and to see the way God reveals himself through the beauty of this land.

Many people may look at this experience as “giving up” a year of my life. And to the average person, I can understand why; it’s not exactly a common path to take. Yet in actuality, it’s a simple “giving.” Period. Because that’s one of several things we are called to do as Catholic Christians. To give and to serve. And I want you to be a part of this mission as well. I invite you to do so through prayer, but also through financial support. If you so graciously choose to donate $50 or more, or give to the mission monthly, you will receive the NET Newsletter and my personal letter updating you on the mission throughout the year. How exciting!

As a final note, I would like to sincerely thank you for taking the time to visit my page. It means more than you know. All of you will be in my prayers! I hope to chat with you soon.
