“A Couple of Bison and the 3 Transcendentals of God”

After a 5-hour flight from Ontario to British Columbia, involving a flash mob of praise and worship amidst several meaningful conversations, we continued our journey with a 30-hour drive filled with wonder through the mountains, spotting bison and swimming in hot springs. Soon enough, with both excitement and relief, we arrived safely at our lodge here in Whitehorse, Yukon. Although most days it seemed like we were completely skipping the season of Autumn, observing the beauty of God’s creation on our journey North was incredible and provided our team with a new way of marvelling at the Lord’s grace and His presence in our lives.

Not only has the opportunity of travelling North provided us with a fresh perspective of God’s radiance and magnificence, but it has also been beautiful to witness His goodness through the way the community of Whitehorse sees, knows, and loves one another so deeply. This care for each other and enthusiasm for strong kinship has served as a constant reminder for our team that God sees, knows, and loves each one of us and each of those we encounter on the road. It is clear that a desire for virtue rests on the hearts of those serving us, and this is something we hope to reciprocate and emulate during our time here and beyond. We are forever grateful for the love and the generosity the community has shown to us through providing meals, homes for our team to rest, and advice on how best to survive the Great White North.

As we begin to form a routine for what ministry in the Yukon will look like this year, we are looking forward to building relationships with youth at some of the local schools, leading music at Sunday liturgies, facilitating youth nights, and visiting the missions in nearby communities, among other opportunities, all with the intention of leading others to an encounter with the truth of Catholicism and a deeper relationship with the Lord. Up until now, we have spent numerous hours preparing and planning for ministry and have had many moments to connect as a team and form a fellowship that can withstand the inevitable challenges that lie ahead.

From all of us here on Team Whitehorse, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued prayers and support. In the coming days, we challenge you to recognize and marvel at the beauty, goodness, and truth that exist in the various facets of your life. Notice how they are intertwined and see how they reflect God’s reality and presence!

St. Vincent de Paul and St. Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us.

God Bless!
