Julia Hartman

HI! I’m Julia! I’m the youngest in my family and have 4 older brothers and parents whom I love dearly. I really like Settlers of Catan, fishing, cooking, traveling, music, construction work, lattes, smiling, sunshine, babies, Jesus, and of course, NET!

In 2013-2014 the Lord placed on my heart a very clear call (I mean, I got an actual phone call from the former Recruiting Coordinator!) asking if I would be open to serving as a missionary with NET Ireland in their inaugural Scotland year. I hadn’t planned to, nor did I desire to, be a missionary with NET, but God did. “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. This unexpected “Yes!” I gave to serve as a missionary that year changed the trajectory of my entire life, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. My time spent on NET was filled with personal and spiritual growth along with many challenges and blessings. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity I was gifted with to courageously share my encounter with Jesus with over 1,000 young people in the hopes that they would come to know His love and mercy. With the goal of encouraging young Catholics to love Christ and embrace the life of the Church and the privilege to witness Jesus change lives within the several hours of a NET retreat, my life was transformed.

My time with NET has blessed me in so many ways! I have encountered Jesus Christ in new ways and have a friendship formed with Him through developing a personal prayer life- something that I did not make a priority before my year on NET. Stepping into the role of Recruiting Coordinator was a natural fit for me, for as you can see, I witnessed my life, the lives of my teammates, and thousands of youth across the country being changed, and I deeply desire to give that experience and opportunity to others.

Some people “give by going” as missionaries and others “go by giving”, as co-missionaries with us by partnering with us through prayers and generosity.

First, I would like to thank all of you who made my year on NET possible by blessing me with your love and support.

Secondly, I would like to present you with the opportunity to continue your gift to this amazing mission which not only allows us to sustain what we do, it also directly fuels us in advancing our mission. NET Canada is currently undergoing a number of exciting changes and expansions as part of our strategic plan. As a non-profit organization, we rely on God’s providence and your support in order to keep this mission going. With the carrying out of our strategic plan, now more than ever we would graciously appreciate your support so that we can keep this mission going and growing!

NET is seeking to grow our monthly donor base. I am inviting you today to be, or continue to be, part of this great mission, to support me in my involvement with NET, and to be a part of changing the lives of youth across Canada. By becoming a monthly donor, you will receive a NETworks Newsletter four times a year as well as updates from me every few months, letting you know what’s going on in my life and how God has been working in and through me.

God has given me so many beautiful treasures in my time with NET, and He continues to do so in the thriving community I live in, my wonderful co-workers, and in our missionaries whom we train and prepare to serve on the front lines. As I continue to serve NET Canada from our Office in Ottawa, I simply desire to give back to Him.

I hope and pray that you will take this opportunity to join me in thanksgiving to God for the abundant blessings that He gives us each day! Please keep NET Canada, our staff, and our missionaries in your prayers, and please be assured that you are kept in mine.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Peace and prayers,
Julia
