Tri-Parish Team Ministry Update- "God's Limitless Providence"

Hello! Welcome to the Tri-Parish ministry update coming to you from Antigonish, Nova Scotia!

Our team arrived in Nova Scotia at the beginning of October, and after patiently quarantining for a week, two COVID-19 tests each, many movie marathons, and countless bursts of laughter, we finally started our long-awaited ministry!

We are mainly stationed at Saint Andrew’s Parish; in Saint Andrews, Nova Scotia; working with Father Andrew Gilles (funny, right?). We are so blessed to be running youth nights every week for Grade 6’s and up. Our team is also running weekly confirmation prep classes for Grades 7’s and up. The community here is so generous, we have been welcomed with such gracious hospitality and warmth. The response to our arrival here in Antigonish reinforces the team’s certainty that God has great plans for the community this year.

So far, our team has done four NET Live Online Retreats for youth from British Columbia, Manitoba, and Northern Ontario. The themes of the retreats have been “Who is Jesus?” and “Friendship”. The most significant thing that our team has learned throughout the online retreats is there are no limits to what our Lord is capable of. He can work in any environment, in any heart, He gives us the opportunity to share His Love with individuals on the other side of the country. What a blessing it is to serve and use technology to share the Gospel.

We have also been working on the Miꞌkmaq reserve with the youth. The team is working with members of the community to establish a youth group. We were invited to the grand opening of the new school and, once again, we were welcomed with open arms as we participated in the traditional Miꞌkmaq smudging ceremony. The team was so honoured to have been included in this special day and we are so excited to spend more time building relationships within the community!

Our patrons, Blessed Carlo Acutis, and St. Claire of Assisi have been interceding for us more than we could have imagined. The team looks to them as models of devout prayer, abandonment to the Lord’s Will, and of course, for help with our technology! Despite having wifi difficulties during some of our retreats, team members who were not on screen took the opportunity to intercede for the youth, praying the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet.

Please pray for our ministry, and be assured of our prayers for you! Thank you for reading!
