This month we’ve mostly been roaming around Central Alberta, Edmonton and Sherwood Park to be specific, but we’ve also made stops in Okotoks, Girouxville, and Rocky Mountain House (where we currently are). February has been exciting and pretty transformative in a lot of ways.
Some big updates from the team:
Nathanael is preparing to lead his very first retreat, which we’re all very excited about. Earlier this month Elizabeth temporarily left the road to go help out Team One for about a week, which was awesome but also meant we had to survive without her (barely).
Speaking of retreats, lately we’ve been running GIGANTIC ones…we’re talking around 150 youth at a time. It’s been amazing, but definitely a little different from what we were used to last semester. Lots of energy, lots of laughs, lots of pizza… you get the idea.
Overall, the team has been doing really well. While we were in Okotoks, though, a few of us got hit with whatever mystery illness seems to be making the rounds right now (which some of you may unfortunately relate to). Because of that, we ended up running a 150 youth retreat with just five of us. Welllllll… technically six if you count the Holy Spirit, who definitely pulled some extra weight that weekend. Thankfully, everyone is now healthy and doing well, and tomorrow we’re heading back to Edmonton.
The other day as we were leaving one of our host homes and piling into the car, we started talking about how grateful we are for all the incredible host families the Lord has blessed us with. Truly, we’ve had some of the loveliest host homes this semester and last, and we’re so thankful for the kindness and generosity that everyone has shown to us..
Oh also some other exciting news, SHOUT OUT TO LUCIAAAA…she’s turning 21! AND to celebrate, we’re all going laser tagging, which most of us have never done before. The hype level in the van is currently very high.
With Lent now underway, we also had a team discussion about what we wanted to give up together. After some deliberation, we landed on no music in the car. And let’s just say… it’s been a sacrifice. Turns out life is significantly quieter when you remove the soundtrack. but no it’s actually been so good, we’ve been able to have a lot more intentional conversations with one another
Finally, we just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us this past month whether it was through prayer, financial support, or by welcoming us into your homes. We are incredibly grateful for each of you and want you to know that you are in our prayers.
Pax, Peeps 🙂
Team Two: Lucia, Josh, Dakota, Mara, Nathanael, Elizabeth, Patricia, and William!
