William Baker, Russell, ON

My name is William Baker and I am filled with gratitude to have been selected to go on NET for the 2025-2026 mission year! I grew up in Russell, Ontario on a small permaculture farm called Fiat Farm. I’m the oldest of six kids, and I’m a semi-competitive curler.

I have had the privilege of knowing many NETters throughout my life, but it wasn’t until I met two brothers, Yohan and Jordan, that I began to seriously consider applying myself. Their faith was inspiring to me! As I was discerning what to do after high school, NET was never far from my mind, but neither was my love of curling. I soon started feeling like God was calling me to take a gap year. One day, as I was praying, I received an image: I was standing on a podium after winning an Olympic curling championship. As I received my gold medal, I expected to feel a sense of joy and fulfillment at my accomplishment, but instead, I felt nothing. Then I heard the Lord say that if winning an Olympic medal was His plan for me, then He would bring me there, whether I took a year off or not. I felt like He wanted my first “big choice” to be Him. And now my journey begins!

I need your help to raise $9000 for the mission year. Will you prayerfully consider joining me in this mission through your prayers and financial support? As a special thank you to those who donate $50 or more, or donate monthly, you will receive a NET newsletter and personal updates from me while I’m on the road. I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with all those who would like to embark on this mission with me.

Thank you in advance for your support and prayers.
God Bless!
William Baker
