Howdy!!
I wanted to begin by reminding you that YOU ARE LOVED! It seems fitting in this “month of love” to start with that – you are so loved! It’s also something we treasure about our ministry; we have the honour of sharing with the youth in Lethbridge that they are so loved by God!
This month has been a lovely one for sure. We’ve spent the last few weeks playing badminton and basketball at youth gym nights, praising God at youth nights spent at adoration, eating pancakes at a parish supper, dancing away at a fifties-themed “sock hop”, distributing ashes at junior high schools on Ash Wednesday and planning a board game club at high schools.
We had a youth night recently for our junior high students focusing mainly on the Gospel, the good news that they are so loved by God, There was a girl who came that night who hadn’t been previously and she seemed a bit nervous or reserved. She asked one of our team members the question “If Jesus was on earth and died, how did He become God?” This team member had the opportunity to share the Gospel message with the girl! Sharing that God, who is in Heaven, sent His son to earth to die on the cross for our sins so that we can go to Heaven and be with Him forever. Sharing also that God is always with us and we’re always able to pray to Him. The girl listened very closely.
Later on, we went into the church for a time of prayer. Upon entering, we made the sign of the cross. This girl was watching as we did this. Our team member asked if she wanted to learn how. She said yes. So they went through it together, praying, “in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit.” The girl was smiling as she learned. Through the prayer time, she repeated the sign of the cross multiple times and prayed the words softly. What a special thing, learning of such extravagant love!
To sum it up, this month has been a blessing. We continue to pray for you, especially that you are continually reminded of the Lord’s never-ending love for you!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish
but have eternal life.” John 3:16
God bless!
